Kyla & Rosie are owned by Fiona. Kyla
is a German Shepherd, who although only about 5 is suffering signs of CDRM.
(For more information on CDRM see the links on our links page.) Kyla swims
every week and Fiona believes strongly that it is helping her condition.
Rosie is an x-racing greyhound. She would rather lay on the sofa in the
sun than swim, but she appears to benefit from her weekly dip.

Zak, owned by Zoe & Ben is a 1 year old German Shepherd, Labrador
cross. Some months ago he was diagnosed as having severe hip dysplasia.
In fact, his vet said he had the worst hips he'd ever seen x-rayed and
his specialist was surprised he was able to walk at all. He rolled his
hips excessively before he started swimming, at 10 months. Zoe and Ben
said he walked like John Wayne! After swimming for a few weeks, Zak already
started to improve. By the time he returned to his specialist at a year
old, he was able to walk with very little roll of the hips, run and play.
The specialist was so happy with his progress, she said they don't want
to see him again until he's 5 years old! We are all overjoyed.

Bailey,
owned by Paula is a rescued black Labrador. He swims for the sheer joy of
it, and so his mum can get some work done while he sleeps it off!".

Huw, owned by Rae
& Gareth, is a 1 year old black lab. Huw has a problemwith his back
legs which makes him intermittently lame. He is, therefore,only able to
take short walks, but has built up his muscles and overall fitness with
regular swimming.

Dino, owned by Kay, is an 18 month old Golden
Retriever. Kay brought him to DoggyPaddle to learn to swim, as despite being
a retriever, he doesn't like going out of his depth in water. During his
very first session, he built his confidence and was swimming for toys. Although
he is now a confident and strong swimming, Kay still brings him to the pool
because he has such a great time here. |

Haennes, owned by Brenda, John
& Angel, is a 10 year old Labrador/GSD/Husky? cross. He suffers with
hind leg stiffness, thought to be arthritis and was quite stiff on land.
He took to swimming immediately, and very quickly built up his stamina.
He seems to know when it's swimming day and gets very excited. Since started
swimming he seems to be getting younger, with more energy and bounce than
he's had for years. |

Smudge, owned by Annette, is a Black Labrador.
He swims for fun and fitness. His favourite game is to collect as many toys
as he can all at the same time. If he can't pick up another in the pool,
he often squashes it against the side. He often carries 4 toys at once. |
